JTM Foods is a leading producer of branded and private label snack foods.  JTM’s products include snack pies, marshmallow crispy treats and other dessert snacks.

JTM sells directly to retailers and distributors as well as through co-packing arrangements with other food manufacturers.  Its products are available nationwide through multiple segments of the retail market including grocery stores, convenience stores and value grocers.

Operational, Business Infrastructure Improvements

While partnered with Blue Point, JTM developed a new go-to-market capability, adding human capital, analytical and marketing skill sets that drove substantial growth. JTM also overhauled the finance and IT functions including installation of a new ERP system. JTM expanded its production capacity to support continued growth with a significant investment in a second pie line, which leveraged existing infrastructure and expanded snack pie capacity by 50%. JTM also created a new smaller sized product line (branded as ‘tid-bits’) and made a meaningful investment in additional equipment to support production.  Its plant was awarded SQF certification – the industry’s highest third-party standard.

Human Capital

Blue Point and JTM partnered with an industry executive and Blue Point operating executive, Angelo Fraggos, to assist in diligence and added him as Executive Chairman post-acquisition. Under Blue Point Point’s ownership, JTM built out the second and third level of management. At acquisition, JTM had a very limited sales & marketing capability. JTM developed its sales & marketing department to diversify its customer base and drive substantial growth of the ownership period. JTM undertook a brand redevelopment and hired an R&D Manager to develop product line extensions and SKU variety in order to diversify product offering and customer base, ultimately reducing customer concentration.
