The strategic vision for Legend was to expand its product and service offering into existing and new end markets through both organic growth and acquisitions. Under Blue Point’s ownership, Legend Brands completed two strategic add-on acquisitions, UnSmoke and Blueline. UnSmoke, a manufacturer of fire restoration and odor control chemicals and products, and Blueline, a manufacturer of truck mount surface cleaning products, expanded Legend’s geographic footprint, diversified its product and service offering, and created a more stable, less seasonal revenue stream. Lastly, Legend integrated an internally developed, higher-end truck mount line called Sapphire Scientific into the Blueline operations.
Operational & Human Capital Enhancements
With the ability to leverage Blue Point’s Operating Executive network and Global Supply Chain resources, Legend successfully completed two product line extensions, implemented lean manufacturing practices and sourced component parts yielding meaningful annual cost savings. Under Blue Point’s ownership, Legend Brands hired several key management members including a CFO, senior leadership team for Sapphire Scientific and VP of Global Supply Chain Management. Blue Point helped establish an industry veteran as non-executive Chairman of the Board who mentored the Legend Brands management team.Â
