In partnership with Blue Point, Smith-Cooper focused on generating value by developing Data & Digital capabilities. Smith-Cooper invested in the talent and infrastructure to enable Data & Digital value creation. The roles of Director of Strategy & Analytics and Director of Inventory Planning & Management. were also created during Blue Point’s ownership. Blue Point and Smith-Cooper cultivated a data-fluent, analytically oriented management team. The team and tactics were significantly transformed and re-oriented. Smith-Cooper improved its internal technology and third-party resources and significantly expanded its ERP capabilities.
Global Supply Chain
Blue Point’s efforts to help Smith-Cooper with its international sourcing initiatives allowed the Company to successfully accommodate its rapid growth. Smith-Cooper established a sourcing office in Asia to enhance supply chain management, reduce overall costs and working capital, and facilitate revenue generating opportunities.
M&A
To support geographic and new product expansions, Smith-Cooper acquired Fire Protection Products, Inc. (FPPI), an industry leading distributor of branded fire sprinkler accessory products. Additionally, Smith-Cooper executed multiple growth opportunities including the Illinois facility expansion, Atlanta sales office expansion and new product introductions.
